The Ormond Beach City Commission has approved a plan to build 250 homes on a vacant golf course in Volusia, despite concerns from nearby residents. The development is set to take place at the Old Tomoka OAKS GOLF Course, which closed in 2016 and has remained empty for nearly a decade. Some residents fear increased traffic, increased safety, and increased construction costs. The Ormond beach mayor described the decision as an "inCREDIBLY DIFFICULT DECADE" and a "inquisition" for the project. Developers claim they have worked with city officials to create an equitable site plan for the area and are working towards an equal development.
