San Diego schools and agencies work to remove César Chávez name

San Diego agencies are working to remove the name César Chávez from public spaces, schools, parks, and holidays associated with the late labor leader, following a New York Times investigation that detailed multiple abuse allegations against him. The city, the Port of San Diego, and the Chicano Park Steering Committee are also changing the names of local parks and streets that honor Chévez. The school board is set to vote on starting a process to change the name of an elementary school in Southcrest, if approved, a committee will gather input from students, staff and families on the new school's new name. The Port renamed Césééée.
