Twin Cities homebuilders Kyle and Laurie Hunt asked three local architects to submit designs for a house in the early 1990s, inspired by a best-selling floor plan known as the Maple Forest by late architect Michaela Mahady. The original design became a 1990s sensation, inspiring replicas across the country. The PBS show Hometime chronicled the construction of the original house, which was ready in time for the 1994 Parade of Homes. The design was a top seller for Better Homes and Gardens, which sold home blueprints. The house was purchased by Jeffrey and Lynette Mayhew two decades after buying it, and they're ready to downsize.
