The US President's administration has issued a legislative framework for a single national policy on artificial intelligence, aiming to create uniform safety and security guardrails around the technology, while preempting states from enacting their own AI rules. The six-pronged outline includes new child-safety rules, standardizing the permitting and energy use of AI data centers, and addressing issues of intellectual-property rights. The administration plans to work with Congress to convert this framework into a bill that President Donald Trump can sign. The White House hopes to codify the framework into law this year and secure bipartisan support in a deeply divided Congress.
