Met Police forms team after attacks on London's Jewish community

The Metropolitan Police has formed a new Community Protection Team, consisting of 100 officers from neighbourhood policing, specialist protection and counter terrorism capabilities, following attacks on London's Jewish community. The unit will initially focus on antisemitic threats but could potentially serve as a model for protecting other communities facing high levels of hate crime. Since late March, there have been several arson attacks at Jewish sites and a double stabbing in Golders Green. The new team will involve officers who are local based and have strong relationships with residents, schools, faith leaders and volunteers.
