Lake Mary to vote on burying power lines ahead of hurricane season

The City of Lake Mary may introduce a plan to move some power lines underground, ahead of the approaching hurricane season. The city's commissioners will vote on a binding cost estimate with Duke Energy to convert powerlines along North Country Club Road between Lake Mary Boulevard and the Lake Mary Events Center. The advantages of undergrounding powerlines include a reduction in wildfire risks, removal of visual clutter, and reduced power outages. The estimated cost of the conversion has not yet been disclosed.
