Kankakee man charged in fatal attack in Oswego transferred to mental health facility

Darryl Lee Jr., a 20-year-old Kankakee man charged with murdering Tracey J. Land in a fatal attack at a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Oswego in 2025, has been transferred from the Kendall County Jail to a mental health treatment facility in Elgin. Following a doctor's evaluation, a judge declared Lee unfit to stand trial and released him from the jail on April 15. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges. The victim was making a delivery to the restaurant when Lee allegedly broke into and attacked him with a hammer and a knife.
