Manchester Airport is considering adding a new tram stop and tram line to its Terminal 2 building to help support the expected eight million extra passengers by 2030. The proposal is part of Transport for Greater Manchester's Greater Manchester Transport Strategy 2050, which states that most flights will begin from this terminal in 2025. The new tram would stop at Manchester Airport rail and tram station before continuing to the new terminal and connect to the existing line at Roundthorn. No decision has been made yet on whether the new tram line will be implemented.
