Las Vegas gas and jet fuel prices are near $5 per gallon as the Iran war prevents oil from passing through the Strait of Hormuz, threatening summer travel and the tourism economy. Patrick De Haan, lead petroleum analyst for GasBuddy, said that summer travel could be affected across the U.S. if President Donald Trump doesn't work out a plan to reopen the Strait. De Haen also warned that rising gasoline and diesel prices could increase prices for groceries and other products coming into Las Vegas. If nothing is done in the near term, gas prices in the Las Vegas Valley could near the record high of $5.61 set on June 16, 2022.
