Guardians getting close to adding veteran slugger to roster

The Guardians are close to adding veteran slugger Rhys Hoskins to their 40-man roster. Hoskins, who is currently in camp on a minor league contract worth $1.5 million if he makes the team, has three opt-out dates - five days before opening day, May 1 and June 1 - if the Guardians don't put him on the 40-men roster. The team believes Hoskins' ability to balance their lineup gives them some balance and production.
