After the death of renowned conductor Michael Tilson Thomas, attention has been drawn to a lesser-known chapter of his career. He had previously worked with The Cleveland Orchestra and helped shape Metallica's 2019 S&M2 concerts in San Francisco. The band credits Tilson for developing the shows and leading the live performances from the podium. Additionally, he served as the San Francisco Symphony's musical director for 25 years.
