The state Attorney General's Office has released body cam and surveillance footage from a fatal police-involved shooting in New Jersey on Wednesday. The incident occurred on Sept. 5 last year near the intersection of JFK Boulevard and Clinton Avenue. The suspect, identified as Steven B. Sanchez, was shot multiple times and died from gunshot wounds. Sgt. Ricardo Reyes has been identified as the officer who shot Sanchez. The footage shows multiple Jersey City Police officers demanding that Sanchez drop his weapon several times before he is shot. The air pistol that Sanchez had been using was recovered from the scene. A 2019 law requires an investigation into any death during an encounter with law enforcement or when a person is in police custody.
