Everett, who has performed with Beyoncé for 17 years, stated that the incident involved other guests, not the Virgin team, and she took full responsibility for misdirecting her frustration. The cruise line responded by saying the incident was a safety-based decision, not directed at any individual, and that they are committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive environment on board. Everett was previously criticising the cruise line for not doing anything to make her birthday "special."
