Hawaii storms have caused $1bn in damage, governor says

Two consecutive storms have caused $1bn in damages in Hawaii, according to the state's governor, with as much as 50in (127cm) of rain and severe flooding. The full extent of the damage is yet to be assessed. The Hawaii National Guard remains stationed at the 120-year-old Wahiawa dam to monitor the water levels and prevent potential catastrophes.
