Pilot unable to recover from spin before fatal Thorganby crash

Two men, aged 21 and 24, died in a Cessna FRA150L crash near Thorganby, Yorkshire, on 28 July 2024. The pilot, identified as Matthew Bird, had begun a "fully developed spin to the left" but was unable to recover and crashed into a field. The Air Accidents Investigation Branch found no pre-existing failures to the aircraft. The report also revealed that the pilot had recently qualified for aerobatic flying and that it was likely that the spin recovery technique had not yet developed.
