Woodburn’s Diego Torres finds his March Madness as a women’s coach at Jacksonville

Die Torres, a 24-year-old Latino athlete from Woodburn, has become an assistant coach for the Jacksonville University women’s team at Jacksonville University, Florida. The team, coached by Special Jennings, won the Atlantic Sun Conference tournament and earned an automatic berth in the NCAA tournament. Torres, who started as a graduate assistant under Jennings before being promoted for assistant coach duties the past two seasons, has contributed to building the team's program and mentorship. He also served as a practice player for the Oregon women's team for four years during his time at Oregon. Jacksonville will play against No. 2 LSU in the opening round of the NCAA Women's Tournament.
