A Minnesota woman is suing Wisconsin's Jack & the Green Sprouts farm, alleging that her unborn baby died due to listeria-infected sprouts. The lawsuit claims that the sprouts gave her a serious listeriosis infection, which led to the death of her unborn child. The farm was previously warned by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration after its alfalfa sprouts showed the presence of the bacteria multiple times. A lawyer for the farm denies these allegations. The FDA has previously expressed serious concern about foodborne illnesses associated with the consumption of raw and undercooked sprouts, which has led to 52 reported outbreaks of illnesses due to contamination.
