A nearly 130-year-old dry goods store in South Downtown, 85 Peachtree Street, is being rebuilt into apartments with a public courtyard and a restored Atlanta streetcar as its centerpiece. The $28 million project is part of South Downtown Atlanta's efforts to preserve Atlanta's historic building stock. The developer plans to outsourcing amenities such as a gym and commons areas to the community. The building's original facade frames the entrances and will be opened for leasing in early June before the FIFA World Cup.
