Lawyer Brian Steel is seeking to join Lil Durk's legal team, replacing Jonathan M. Brayman who has been representing Durk in the murder-for-hire case. Steel's pending application states that he is not currently licensed to practice law in California, but won't be committing unauthorized practice of law if approved. If approved, Steel will join a high-profile team that includes celebrity clients such as Cardi B, Gucci Mane, and Donald Trump. Steel saw his fame rise while representing Young Thug in the YSL RICO trial. Despite Durk’s objections, his trial has been postponed multiple times.
