Medicaid funding package for 3 million in NC set for final vote

North Carolina lawmakers are set to finalise a $319 million plan to fully fund the state's Medicaid program, which provides health care for over 3 million people. The plan passed in initial votes in the state House and Senate but requires a further vote to approve it one more time. The bill includes the full amount requested by Gov. Josh Stein but also includes provisions that may give him pause. The state health officials predict that Medicaid will run out of money in May unless this new plan is approved before then. The proposal also includes new provisions to remove ineligible people from Medicaid even after their incomes increase.
