The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a flood watch for central Indiana until 10 a.m. on March 4 due to heavy rainfall. Rainfall amounts are expected to be between two and four inches, with potential for higher amounts. Several counties are included in the watch, and residents are advised to monitor for potential flood warnings. The NWS warns that excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. It also advises drivers to never drive through flooded roadways, as it only takes 12 inches of water to sweep a car away. Each year, more deaths occur due to flooding than from any other thunderstorm related hazard, according to the NWS.
