Ridgefield BOE Panel Advances Policy Overhaul, Recommends New Safety Rule

The Ridgefield Board of Education (BOE) has approved a review of several older policies, including a policy on student roles and goals that is no longer necessary or legally required. The committee also voted to delay review of two policies to allow more time for evaluation. Co-Chair Christine More stated that the removal of these policies would not eliminate the consequences for misconduct. They also recommended that a regulation governing behavior at athletic events should be rescinded, as its provisions are already covered under an existing, legally required policy. A significant portion of the meeting focused on adopting a new school security and safety policy, named Policy 1310, which replaces an existing 2023 policy.
