Jury selection is set to begin for the retrial of Jason Meade, the former Franklin County deputy charged with murder in Casey Goodson Jr.'s 2020 shooting death. The case has been delayed multiple times and could set the tone for future police violence trials in Central Ohio. Goodson was shot six times in the back and buttocks and Meade was not wearing a body camera. The previous trial ended with a hung jury. Meade's defense is expected to argue self-defense, which would require prosecutors to prove beyond a reasonable doubt. This retrial follows two high-profile police cases with split outcomes.
