The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NIAB) reported a 22% decrease in reported car thefts in Michigan last year, with 1,217 thefts reported in 2025. The most commonly stolen vehicle is the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Other commonly identified vehicles include the Dodge Charger, Chrysler 300, Kia Soul, and Chevrolet Malibu.
