The NBA's expansion plans for Las Vegas and Seattle have been updated, with a vote set for March 25. If approved, this would be the first step towards adding the two teams for the 2028-29 season. Other potential owners include Magic Johnson, the owner of the Vegas Golden Knights, Bill Foley, and LeBron James. However, while James has expressed interest in owning an NBA team in Las Vegas, he would need additional financial backing to pay between $7 billion and $10 billion for an expansion team. This financial backing was expected to come from Fenway Sports Group, James' partner, due to the high expansion fee the NBA is expecting from potential buyers. James may also explore other business partners if he wishes to own the Las Vegas franchise.
