Former Stoughton police officer, Matthew Farwell, is seeking his release from jail in relation to the murder of Sandra Birchmore and her unborn child in 2021. Farwell has been held at a detention center in Rhode Island since his arrest in August 2024. Prosecutors allege he began sexually exploiting Birchmore when she was 15 and strangled her to prevent their relationship from being revealed. The defense has argued that an unidentified man may have fathered the child.
