Diana Sanders, a 45-year-old nurse in California, has been awarded $300,000 in damages following a lawsuit against the cruise line Carnival Corporation. The incident occurred on Jan. 5, 2024, when Sanders was served 14 shots of tequila and served multiple shots within an hour on the Radiance ship. She was found unconscious after falling down a set of stairs and sustaining multiple injuries including a concussion, headaches, a possible traumatic brain injury, back injuries, tailbone injuries, bruising, pain, suffering, and more. Despite initially seeking $250,000, Sanders was found 40% negligent. Despite the 17-month litigation, Carnival argued that Sanders had failed to identify any bartenders or bars where she was overserved and should be dismissed for failing to sufficiently identify a negligent employee.
