The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued an arrest detainer against the Venezuelan migrant suspect in the shooting death of Loyola University freshman Sheridan Gorman. The suspect, who was apprehended by the U.S. Border Patrol in May 2023, has been taken into custody in connection with the shooting. No charges had been filed as of Sunday afternoon. Gorman was shot early Thursday morning on the Loyaola Beach Pier and was found with a gunshot wound to the back. The suspected shooter was identified through a distinctive limp due to his distinctive appearance. No motive for the shooting has been disclosed.
