The city of Aurora has celebrated the grand opening of two new fire stations, Fire Station 13 and Fire Station 9, located near the Chicago Premium Outlets mall and the future Hollywood Casino location. The stations were built to improve the fire department's response times in Aurora, following recommendations from a 2021 study. The new stations will also provide additional ambulances for the department. The construction of the new stations began in November 2024 and were approved for construction in late 2024. Both stations feature similar layouts, with easy access to the vehicle bay from the living quarters and private shower areas off the locker rooms. Aurora Mayor John Laesch said Station 13 will be a key piece for development in the northern part of the city.
