Israel has reportedly co-opted a popular Iranian prayer app, BadeSaba, to send mass notifications urging defections from the Islamic regime. The app, which allows users to track daily prayer times and religious observances, has over 5 million downloads on the Google Play Store alone. The cyber operation reportedly took place as Israel and the United States launched waves of strikes against Iranian military and leadership targets, resulting in the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. The perpetrators bypassed state-controlled media channels and delivered defection messaging directly to personal devices.
