The United States is working on a potential solution to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which has caused a global supply crunch. The India/Middle East/Europe corridor (IMEC) plan involves the construction of a network of pipelines, trains, and roads to bypass the Hormoz bottleneck. The IMEC plan aims to connect India to the Mediterranean while bypassing potential transport bottlenecks. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu supports the plan, stating that long-term solutions include rerouting energy pipelines westward across Saudi Arabia to the Red Sea and Mediterranean, bypassing Iran’s geographic choke point.
