The superintendent of the Skykomish School District has been placed on leave following allegations that a teacher, Daniel Bubar, raped a student over a period of two years. Court documents allege that Bubar groomed and then sexually abused the student when she was 12. The district announced that Superintendent Dr. Destry Jones was placed on administrative leave. Bubar has been charged with second- and third-degree rape of a child and communication with a minor for immoral purposes. The school district is conducting its own investigation into the allegations.
