The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee has announced the death of African elephant Sukari, who was 41 years old and had been in the care of the sanctuary for over a decade. Despite this, she resumed her normal activities, but recent significant weight loss led to concerns about her health. The Veterinary and Elephant Care Teams made the decision to euthanize Sukari peacefully. The Elephant Sanctuary was born in Zimbabwe in 1984 and imported to the United States the following year.
