Exclusive: Ukraine sees path to Japanese arms after Tokyo eases export rules

Ukraine's Ambassador to Japan, Yurii Lutovinov, has stated that Tokyo has eased its export rules, allowing Ukraine to potentially benefit from this move. The changes were made in response to concerns about Ukraine's security as Japan faces growing military power from China's growing military capabilities. While maintaining controls on exports to conflict zones, Tokyo allows exceptions that serve Tokyo's security interests. Lutrovinov also mentioned discussions about Japan contributing to NATO's Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List, a programme that funds purchases of U.S.-made equipment for Ukraine.
