President Donald Trump is postponing his endorsement in the Texas Senate Republican primary to pressure Republican senators to pass the SAVE America Act, a piece of legislation that he has described as his "No. 1 priority" ahead of the midterms. Neither incumbent Sen. John Cornyn nor Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton were at least 50% of the vote in the primary election, leading to a runoff race on May 26. Paxton initially responded to rumors of a Cornyn endorsement by stating he would not withdraw from the race even if Trump refused to support him. However, he changed his stance by highlighting a shared issue between the two candidates.
