The Artemis II astronauts have been filmed struggling to walk after returning to Earth's gravity following their historic mission to the moon. The team, consisting of Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover and Christina Koch, had reentered Earth’s atmosphere at a peak velocity of nearly 25,000 miles per hour and splashed down in the Pacific Ocean off San Diego at 8:07 p.m. ET. The crew were retrieved from the Orion crew module and flown to the USS John P Murtha, where they were met by cheering crowds. However, it became apparent that they were experiencing locomotive difficulties due to their 9-day stint in microgravity. Extended stints in space can cause a host of issues, including inner-ear balance problems, nausea, immune system issues, sleep disturbances, and vision problems. NASA declared the Artemis II mission a success and is now focusing on reviewing data from the mission before developing plans for Artemis III.
