A 4.6-magnitude earthquake rattled the Bay Area early Thursday morning, with strong shaking reported in Oakland, San Francisco, and as far north as Petaluma. The quake was initially measured at magnitude 5.1, but the USGS revised it down to 4.9. No immediate reports of damage have been reported.
