The Senate is set to begin a marathon voting session on Wednesday night to advance Republicans' $70 billion immigration enforcement funding package, using the budget reconciliation process to approve the funding. However, Democrats plan to use this process to force Republicans to address contentious issues such as housing, health care, child care, and affordability issues. The Senate Budget Committee released a budget blueprint after weeks of negotiations, outlining plans to fund Customs and Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement for the next 3½ years. Once the resolution passes the Senate, it will be sent to the House for consideration and the designated committees will begin drafting the underlying bill.
