The base system will be more focused on modern mobile processors and use hardware more efficiently while offering expanded functionality. It is also expected to feature further DirectStorage optimizations and lower latencies in cloud gaming. The release of Windows 12 would be released in 2026, which coincides with the end of support for Windows 10 in October 2026 and the extended ESU period.
