The number of annual visits to the Buffalo National River has dropped from 1.09 to 1.39, according to the National Park Service. This is a significant decrease in visitor numbers since the mid-1990s. The cost of the travel is also significantly higher than the previous year. The National Geographic team also noted that the number of visitors to the area is also increasing.
