Russian superyacht crosses blockaded Strait of Hormuz
Published on April 27, 2026.
The 465-foot superyacht "Nord", linked to sanctioned Russian oligarch Alexey Mordashov, crossed the blocked Strait of Hormuz and arrived in Muscat, Oman. Since February, Iran has restricted traffic through the strait, which typically handles around one-fifth of the world's oil supply. The vessel was not officially listed as the owner, but records show it was registered to a Russian firm owned by Mordashova in 2022. The U.S. has imposed a blockade on Iranian ports as part of its efforts to countermand Iran's increasing influence on global affairs.
