David Peterson's return to the Mets' rotation was marred by a poor performance, with him allowing seven runs in just three innings in a 14-2 loss to the Nationals. Despite these setbacks, Peterson is expected to remain in the rotation or be used behind an opener next time through the rotation. Carlos Mendoza, manager of the team, expressed confidence in Peterson's ability to compete in the strike zone. His ERA in five starts this season is 8.10, compared to his success out of the bullpen where he's only allowed one run in seven innings in two appearances. Meanwhile, Sean Manaea was as bad in relief as Peterson, allowing six runs in two innings. The Mets have limited Robert's playing time to prevent injuries from the previous two seasons.
