A Minneapolis lawmaker, State Representative Emma Greenman (DFL-Minneapolis), is pushing for transparency in data center projects in her hometown of Farmington, Hermantown, and Pine Island, as part of her bill to ban non-disclosure agreements between municipalities and all businesses, including data centers. The bill, which was unanimously approved by a committee of lawmakers, could be voted on the House floor if approved by both Democrats and Republicans, but the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce opposes the bill. The public has a right to know about projects that affect communities, with concerns about health, electricity resources, light pollution, air pollution, and noise pollution.
