Micron's water use at its new semiconductor manufacturing facility in Southeast Boise, Idaho, has not been made public. The company's water supply is currently purchased through a combination of pumping it from the ground, irrigation from the Boise River, and purchasing it privately from the water utility Veolia. However, how much the company plans to use when the new fabs come online is not yet disclosed. Micron has long held significant water rights in Southeast Idaho and is committed to achieving a 75% water conservation rate globally by 2030 through water recycling, reuse, and water restoration projects in communities where it operates. The Idaho Department of Water Resources can see a partial picture of Micron’s water usage by looking at its current water rights, but this doesn’t reflect any water purchased from Veolia and is the maximum they would be allowed to use at any given time.
