Adobe to pay fines, offer free service to those affected by billing practices

Adobe has agreed to pay $150 million to the U.S. Department of Justice in a settlement over its controversial cancellation practices. Of the total, $75 million will be donated to affected customers in exchange for complimentary services. The remaining $75 will be used to settle the lawsuit. While Adobe has acknowledged the issue, it hasn't admitted wrongdoing. The company has now been required to make more transparent about its cancellation fees. The most expensive option, monthly subscriptions, are often twice the cost of the other subscription options. However, if a user needs to cancel the subscription, Adobe does not charge a fee.
