A nonprofit offering a Mother’s Day weekend maternal health panel was held at a church in Chicago's South Side. The event was part of the First Ladies Health Initiative, a faith-based nonprofit organization focused on bridging the health gap for underserved communities. The mortality rate for Black women in 2024 was 44.8 deaths per 100,000 women, more than three times the death rate for white women. The initiative aims to break down health access barriers and has conducted over 600,000 health screenings since its inception.
