The Oklahoma state Senate is pushing for a state Question on Medicaid, allowing voters to vote on changes to the state's Medicaid system. The bill includes a proposal to remove Medicaid expansion from the state constitution and remove the prohibition against enacting additional restrictions on eligibility for Medicaid. However, Democrats fear this could result in decreased federal funding if federal funding for the Medicaid expansion population drops below 90%. The bill also includes a repeal of Section 2 of Article 25-A of the Oklahoma Constitution, which would allow for more restrictions on Medicaid enrollment. The proposal has been met with opposition from the Cherokee Nation, who believe it could allow for job creation without restrictions on the eligibility of Medicaid.
