Attorney for Officer Nicholas O'Malley, who is accused of manslaughter in the on-duty shooting death of Stephenson King, has revealed that King had a history of violence, including at least 17 criminal cases across Massachusetts courts, prior instances of resisting arrest while in a vehicle and ramming police vehicles, strangulation charges, firearms offenses, assault charges, and domestic violence. David Yannetti, representing Officer O’Malley, has filed a slew of discovery motions in the case, requesting records of King’s complete criminal history, including all arrests, charges, dispositions, and pending matters from any jurisdiction. The case has pitted the Boston Police Department against Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden, who has brought the matter to a grand jury.
