Nathan Eovaldi, a former fastball-curve-changeup pitcher, has been struggling in his first six starts of the season for the Rangers, using only 19.7% of his four-seam and two-seams fastballs combined among 93 pitchers with at least 500 pitches. This is the lowest usage for these pitches combined among the 93 pitchers in the league. Despite this, he has made a significant improvement in his pitch, particularly in his seven shutout innings against the New York Yankees, where he used the splitter 41 times and the cutter 29 times, the most he's used in a single game in nearly six years. The home run issue has been a concern this year, with nine of them in seven outings.
