The 2026 FIFA World Cup will take place in Mexico, with an estimated 5.5 million tourists expected to exceed average due to the World Cup, generating nearly $3.2 billion in additional revenue. Mexico's Minister of Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, predicts that Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey are the most likely destinations to benefit from this revenue. Rodrigo Esponda, managing director of the Los Cabos Tourism Board, has stressed the importance of connectivity as a key selling point for the destination, noting direct flights to all host cities in the US., Canada, and Mexico except Miami and Philadelphia. Despite lacking connectivity, the best bets for attracting World Cup tourists are the reputation for luxury and strong relationships with key markets like Los Angeles.
